Southern Great Bear Rainforest

A Photo Tour with Don Paulson Inside Passage

and Emerald Isle Sailing Charters

Sept 10 to Sept 19, 2010 (Bella Bella to Orcas Island)

Join Don Paulson and Emerald Isle Charters for an unforgettable photographic adventure. Based aboard the Na'walak, a beautiful 54-foot pilothouse ketch, you will experience and photograph the primeval beauty of the Southern Great Bear Rainforest and Inside Passage. The Great Bear Rainforest lies roughly from the north end of Vancouver Island on the central B.C. coast up to the Alaska border. This trip will focus on the dramatic southern portion of the Great Bear. Highlights along our route include the Gulf Islands, Desolation Sound – thought by many to be the premier yachting destination in the Northwest for its fjords, mountains, warm water, lakes; Johnstone Strait – home of an orca refuge and great whale watching area; the Broughton Archipelago area – abandoned First Nation village sites dot this scenic island group, with totem poles, longhouse ruins, and the fascinating U’mista Cultural Center combine to give this tour a rich cultural flavor.

This trip is ideal for photography enthusiasts who wish to improve their photography skills.  You will photograph alongside professional nature photographer Don Paulson, both on shore and aboard the Na'walak. Don will be available throughout the trip for any help or photo advice you may need.  His passion for photography is contagious and you will be inspired to try new and creative ways to make photographs. If you are new to photography, Don will put you at ease with his knack for clear and simple explanations to your questions.  Advanced photographers will benefit from Don’s extensive knowledge and many years of working as a full-time nature photographer.  In the evenings you may wish to download and view your photos for the day. Don will be available to help you with any of your downloading or photo editing questions.

Cost: $3497 Limited to six people.
